As the former USDA Under Secretary and Chief Scientist, Dr. Chavonda oversaw a multi-billion-dollar research portfolio across agencies that shape the future of food, agriculture, climate resilience, and innovation. She led more than 100 laboratories and centers nationwide, advanced breakthrough scientific initiatives, and represented the United States on global stages including the G20, OECD, and AIM for Climate.

Her work has strengthened global food systems, supported climate-smart agriculture, expanded STEM leadership, and empowered the next generation of scientists and innovators.

Beyond her federal service, she is a champion for women in STEM, a mentor to leaders around the world, and the creator of the PACK framework for leadership excellence: Preparation, Agility, Cup, and Kindness.
